At M.S. 267, our science department is a strong pillar of our school community. In all grades, our young scientists are engaged in learning the foundations of the science that makes life possible. We continue to work hard every day to ensure students are given the strong scientific foundation they need to succeed in the world of today and tomorrow.

Research EXPERIENCE and opportunities
Our 7th Graders took a trip to a nearby Brooklyn Beach to research, observe and analyze ecological issues caused by human pollution. As part of our trip, we helped to clean up a great deal of litter from the beach. When the day was done, we had several filled garbage bags with a ton of trash from people who had carelessly tossed it here. We found many animals and plants that were impacted by this pollution. At the conclusion of our trip, we came back and had a great discussion about what we observed and experienced. Students created posters with their analysis and some of their proposals for finding a solution to this devastating issue.
Project Based Learning
Our science department works extremely hard to ensure our young scientists are engaged with thoughtful, interesting and relevant material. We strive to offer them the opportunity to apply what they are learning while making real world connections. We plan and carry out in-depth project-based learning that spans all subject areas for a truly well rounded learning experience.
Labs & Project Based learning experiences
Our students partake in laboratory experiments, applying what they have learned in class in real world situations. Giving them the opportunity to carry out lab work is extremely important in helping them to be prepared for college and their future careers in science, technology, engineering, art & math (STEAM) based professions.
