PROGRAMS

Take a look at some of the specialized programs we offer to ensure students from all walks of life can get a great education and graduate as a well rounded citizen.

English As A New Language (ENL)

The ENL’s at M.S. 267 are serviced through a flexible program model. The proficiency level determines the services that they will receive. Students who are at a beginner or intermediate level receive 360 minutes a week of ESL instructional support, while the students who are at an advanced level of proficiency receive 180 minutes of instructional support. This program assists students in acquiring skills in the English language while supporting the academic work that they are being taught in their classes. Rosetta Stone, Achieve 3000, and ACUITY are some of the instructional programs used to help support the learning process of all ENL's.

A rigorous curriculum with proper scaffolds is embedded to help support the learning process. These entry points and modes of support assist the students in comprehending the material that is being presented. Additionally, this cohort of students, are offered after-school and Saturday school support to help maximize their academic progress. They are encouraged to avail themselves of any or all of the supplementary support services programs that are offered.

The goals of the ENL program are:
  • To teach English so that the language that is acquired can be applied to academic and social contexts.
  • To allow students the opportunity to flourish socially at home, school and the community.
  • To provide students with the appropriate tools so that they are able to construct meaning while using the instructional strategies that they have been taught.
Testing throughout the year, students are administered the NYSESLAT field test assessments, as well as all other assessments that are mandated by the school. In addition, in the Spring, they are administered the NYSESLAT examination, which determines their proficiency level and guides the flexible programming solutions.

Special Education

Our goal is to offer all of our scholars a great education. For students will special needs, we offer specialized services to ensure they are given the same opportunities as all of our students. Therefore, the IEP team must first consider whether the student’s academic need can be serviced in a general education class. At M.S 267, we have instituted Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) in every classroom for grades 6-8, in our efforts to ensure every child receives equal access to a quality education.

celebrate excellence. Never settle for less.
